Technology has become an integral part of our life, so much so that we have become its slaves. We can go for days without meeting your friends but we cannot stay for hours without checking your news-feed on Facebook. We are starting to forget spending time with our loved ones, reading a good book, doing homework and playing with our friends. Instead we just sit in front of a console or T.V and the only time we move is to twitch a muscle to change channels or move your joystick. Rather than technology being a tool to help us in our daily tasks
it has become a central part of our daily routine.
it has become a central part of our daily routine.
We just sit in front of an electronic device all day and don’t bother to do anything with other people be it friends, relatives or parents. Even in the past when we did not have so much of technology at our disposal we still had good social relationships, we were not bored those days, we still did all our tasks properly we did not depend on technology as much as we do now.
Just sitting at home and texting with your friends makes you isolated and not only makes you lazier and physically inactive but too much exposure to a gadget also spoils your mood, mind and body.
Technology was created for our betterment and we must use it well. Technology is spoon feeding us way beyond what we can think of. If you want to know something you can just Google it. This has become a central part of our life. So much so that even if you are writing an open book exam you struggle a lot because you want know how to search and analyse the data presented to you and collect only what is relevant because till now Google was doing your job.
Social networking sites might be bringing you closer to your far of relatives but its separating you from the ones who are around you. While chatting online we tend to use slang and abbreviations un-necessarily and this is not only spoiling our language but also changing the dictionary in a bad way. People now are counting the selfies they take but are not bothered to count the moments with their friends that have made them smile.
Online, it is really difficult to judge people who you become friends with. The person may post a picture that makes him look attractive and post scholarly articles when in reality he might just be an imposter. So more than the number of friends we have online we should bother about how many true friends we have in reality.
Nowadays children of even 4 years of age can operate laptops and tablets. This is enslaving them at a young age and preventing their imagination and creativity from growing. They spend so much time immersed in playing certain games and they become addicted at a young age. Whereas in the past children of 4-5 years played out door games using their imagination and rather than playing games on a tablet(if they could) they built their creativity through games that later game them the ability to develop amazing games like Temple Run,2048,etc itself.
Video game addiction has also become a pressing issue. Video game addiction happens very slowly. Different studies have shown that up to 15% of video gamers can be considered addicted. Overuse of gaming is considered to be more than 2 hours per day. To do that video gaming has to push other things out of life like home work, eating, playing with your friends and spending time with your family. Not to mention that it will give you sudden changes in behaviour. One minute you will be jollier than Santa Claus and the next minute you will be angrier than hulk. A fifteen year old boy ran away from home in the US in 2008 because his parents took away his Xbox 360 as he got low grades that test. Gaming addiction interferes with common sense and can hurt other people.
Finally, technology must be used only to help and aid you to do certain tasks more efficiently in life. It is not for spoon feeding us with information and we must have the knowledge as to how to effectively use it in order to get the best out of technology.
